Sidmouth Folk and other events 2007

There is now a story for OhmyNews for 2007. There was a draft Google doc and this will continue for future stories. I managed to link in to YouTube and video. Meanwhile Exeter Television is getting closer to some sort of citizen reporting nearer home. There is a lot of video waiting to be edited, both from Sidmouth and the Exeter Respect weekend. there is now enough online for a virtual Sidmouth at any time and/or links to other folk events. For example OhmyNews reports now for three years, keep scrolling down for 2005.

For next year I think Gospel could be a link. Will Sidmouth Gospel Choir vist Exeter? Would they fit in with the Respect ideas? World Music apparently was part of the late night events near the campsite but I did not hear any. More citizen reporters needed for next year.

There could be more like this ahead of any event. The video is from 1960s, not much singing and times are changing in East Devon obviously. Check Exeter TV for updates.

Creative Commons and Flickr

The editors of OhmyNews are concerned about copyright.

Submitted stories with photos can be delayed if there is a question.

So if you don't mind a photo being on the web, one route is Flickr with a Creative Commons licence that can be easily checked.

During July and August 2005, OhmyNews International published three stories about the Sidmouth Folk Week. All three were picked up by Google News. As the Week was not expected to be quite the same as a festival there was not a lot of media coverage on the web.
