| Life Bytes Press Resources There were a series of email press releases, mostly about Acrobat. An archive will appear later. Recently the subjects have begun to vary. This page will become some sort of reference. Internet Express is a sort of real base for other sites and projects. It is maintained by Will Pollard who recently started a form of autobiography. At the moment this is more of a situation description, an extended guide to blogs etc. The title is "Hello Spiders". There is a free PDF with not much more than a structure. Based on a web page mostly for search engines and another for blogs. The search engines are comprehensive and fill in the gaps with your help. Dialogue with journalists Changes in the media are now part of the story. The Guardian is one paper with a digital edition, but so far there is not much news about this. See Talk at the Guardian for some links about PDF. Recently print journalists have stareted to raise some issues about bloggers, citizen journalists and others such as myself. Victor Keegan recently wrote that "hardly any of them originate news themselves, except at the local level " and that we are a threat to the experts without which we would not exist. Naturally I do not accept this, especially as the Guardian is evolving to make more use of contributions from the public. There is still a role for professional journalists and for print newspapers but I think there is a lot on the web that complements the mainstream news. During 2007 I hope to continue some reporting on the Sidmouth Folk Week and other music in south west England . There will at least be links to other people's work on YouTube. Please come back later for more details. This is still local reporting but there is also a citizen journalism take on national events such as the Online Information show, Olympia in December. I will soon have links to a draft for OhmyNews and links to previous stories. It could be interesting to compare how blogs etc. report this with what turns up in the Guardian. Another aspect is that Victor Keegan contributes some excellent photographs to Flickr, with a Creative commons licence so they can be mixed with other work by anyone if attributed. I am thinking of using at least one of Trafalgar Square for a guide on how to get from there to King's Cross. Not sure of the route yet. Some photos will be original but I could probably find enough through Flickr. Will dot Pollard at Gmail dotcom |
